Throughout my work, I have developed four main principles that have become the pillars of my practice and the basis of Numi Wellness. Guided by these ideas and principles, I find that I am able to work with each client holistically, not only integrating their mind, body, and soul, but also expand into looking at their environment, systems, and community. It is through this approach that I believe individuals are able to find their greatest restoration and healing.
The ability to provide emotional and physical nourishment and care given to someone.
The first step to creating change and healing, is to bring nurturance into one’s life as a means to restore balance. Through nurturance of yourself, whether it be emotionally, physically, or spiritually it is a process of showing yourself that you are worthy of bringing about positive change in your life, and have created some balance to welcome it. Nurturance is created through different acts, behaviors, and changes.
The ability to understand something; comprehension.
Once you have created a space of nurturance we are able to begin unpacking what has occurred to have created any pain, distress, or concern in your life. We will be looking at the roots of these issues so that we can have a deep understanding of the historical, systemic, relational, and internal contributing factors. This work is not to “medicate” the concerns, but rather through understanding the issues dynamically we will better be able to create sustainable change.
An act of changing physical location or position or of having this changed.
While having nurturance for oneself and a deep understanding is incredibly valuable, I view my work as helping people to find change and movement in their lives. Movement is about taking the understanding and then converting it into positive changes that are not just ‘cookie cutter’ solutions, but rather changes suited for each individual. This is the work of really bringing about change!
The action or process of integrating.
This is the gorgeous work, of bringing it all together! There is the nurturance for self, the understanding of patterns, systems, and beliefs, things have been tried and tested, and now the work becomes about embodying the changes. This wonderful work is fun and incredibly rewarding for individuals to experience it all beginning to come together and integrate into their being. This is not about forgetting the ‘old-self’ but rather introducing these new healthy and positive parts.
